Now the only thing I can find to do when I am in Kerala, so to go to CCD (Cafe Coffee Day) or watch some movie. You can only go to CCD that often, till it gets annoying. After all, there is only one !! So the choice was to go for the much anticipated film TRANSFORMERS 2.I knew before-hand not to expect a tangible and coherent plot. And to only expect a classic Micheal Bay film. I saw exactly what was expected.

I must say that I am not in the position to write a proper review. So I will just make an effort to state my opinions as far as I can remember.

The film had ACTION, DRAMA, EXPLOSIONS, CHEESY LINES, loads of SLOW MOTION shots and very ‘inspirational’ soundtrack. What else can you expect from Micheal Bay. It was exactly like the last movie. His love for slow motion scenes sometimes goes over the top, and ends up using it at too many places. Explosions were part of every scene where the transformers were present. Every bits and pieces of every buildings, interiors were just blown apart. Me and my friend were discussing how much devastation was cause by it. America would be on a huge debt !!

Like the last film. This wasn’t short of some chessy moments. The biggest fact that I find so hard to digest is Megan Fox’s character. Not that its not possible, but it doesn’t happen that much to be believable. Her attitude and behaviour towards Sam, beign so innocent and cute. She would easily come off as a show off and bitchy kind of character. But who cares. Half the audience might have just come to see her. I did.

VFX was spot on. I would give a standing ovation to ILM (Industrial Light and Magic). They never cease to amaze people with their advancements in realistic visual effects and animation. They were the ones who created the dinosaur models in JURASSIC PARK. It was a landmark at that time and I am sure the ultra-realism of the Transformers interacting with the actors and the environment was an even bigger landmark. You would have to remind yourself in the middle that these are actually 3D rendered, computer generated models, because they seems so real. And from my experience with other people in the theatre was how people cheered on for them. The public response for the first scene with Optimus Primes arrival was overwhelming. Its like how they usually cheer when they see Shahrukh or Hrithik on screen. I was actually smiling at the thought of how the character was made so like-able and believable. And that too from people who might not have ever heard of the real Transformers Series way back in the 80s.  Kudos to ILM.

A major problem I felt in the movie was… TOO MANY TRANSFORMERS. Basically, at one point there are too many transformers to keep track of…especially the Decipticons. It was a conscious choice by the team to make the sequel more robot-centric in the aspects of showing more of them compared to the last film. Rather than showing us good juicy animations of them where they could have, we get lost in keeping track of all the transformers. I don’t know if I am the only one who has this problem. But it reduced the excitement.

But honestly. If you take out the spot-on VFX. And all the snazzy slow motion action sequences. You have got no real coherent plot that would keep you interested in the movie. I had the chance to watch the movie twice. Once with my friends and the other with my parents. The second time I was watching it, it kind of felt a little boring. Some parts are dragged.

Soundtrack was really good. Especially because of the involvement of Hans Zimmer and Linkin Park. I loved the song NEW DIVIDE. And Hans Zimmer is hands down the best composer out there.

I would conclude by saying that this was one fun-filled blockbuster SUMMER popcorn film. One time watch. Breathtaking CGI.

House of Cards is a soothing song. Thom Yorke’s haunting yet beautiful voice couldn’t be any better. The video takes the song even higher with its surreal effects using new technology where there were no lights and cameras used, but only lasers. The resulting effect was perfect for the enchanting music. Why don’t you check it out :

Another one of favorites from the album is Jigsaw Falling Into Place. Its fast paced beats gets your feet taping and head swaying “ROUND AND ROUND” !! The video features the band performing the song with cameras attatched onto their heads. Seeing Thom sway to the music as he sings only adds to the effect of the song. Check it out:

I have my fingers crossed and hope they get all the awards. They deserve it.

I am a music addict and can always be seen plugged onto my iPod. I am also interested in live action films, although I have never done anything related to it. I am into Basketball and Football and generally good at all kinds of sports.

Enough about me. Anyways, this blog is intended for me to just pour in whatever I feel like sharing. My most prominent feature is the need to share information and ideas. I will do it even if you don’t want it I would only be glad if I can find more people who I can share ideas with and brainstorm.
